And the 23-year-old has started to make plans for the future, having recently signed his first professional contract with the Rangers.
“I’m going to go for some proper management,” he said. “I’m going to take a few years off, get my head sorted and hopefully look to get some good players in the team. I have some good fellas and good supporters as well. Hopefully it’ll go well.”
But Gers are confident the club can get the best out of the former Blues star with a few shrewd signings over the summer.
“He is a big man and a good player,” said ex-Rangers defender John Greig. “He has the ability to play at centre-back and is good on the ball and has a very good goal-scoring record. I am not sure whether he wants to get into management as he has quite a lot on his plate now.
“Maybe he will just play. We could probably do with a bit more of what he does as an attacking player.
“He is a very good player, he has a lot to offer to a team and I am sure he can offer a lot to the Rangers.”
Rangers manager Graeme Murty added: “I like what I have seen so far. He has a great work rate and he has got good close control of the ball. He has good link-up play.
“He is a good young prospect and I am looking forward to working with him.”
Angus and Thistle manager Alan Stubbs recently signed Goacoba on loan from Gimnasia y Esgrima de La Plata.
Greig and Stubbs were behind the signings of Lee McCulloch, Alan Gow and Kris Boyd and the Gers boss is keen to keep that prolific partnership going.
“He was our first signing and was a big miss when he went to Fiorentina,” said Stubbs. “We are trying to do the same thing again with Kris.”
The former Queen’s Park striker was handed the captain’s armband after McCulloch’s departure and his leadership skills were obvious during pre-season.
“There is a lot of trust between the captain and the other players,” said Goacoba. “We are a very good unit.
